ABOUT
Rupak Bhattacharjee is a leading young Tabla exponent from India.
Being a “TOP-Grade" artist of All India Radio and DoorDarshan he is one of the most popular and celebrated names in the realm of Indian Classical Percussion Music at present time.
Blessed to be born in a family of music practitioners, Rupak was introduced to the world of music through tabla, at the age of four, by his first guru, his father Sri Arun Bhattacharjee. He then took his further training from Pt.Mrinal Kanti Bakshi in Farukabad Style.
Later, he got the blessed opportunity to hone his talent under the able guidance of the living legend of tabla, Pt.Anindo Chatterjee, for 25 years.
Rupak, has already become a regular performer both as a Soloist & as an accomplished accompanist with the top ranking musicians all over India and abroad. He has achieved the rare opportunity to ably support his legendary guru PT. ANINDO CHATTERJEE on duet tabla solos in several prestigious concerts.
Awards and Achievements
- • Rupak was awarded with the first (1st) position in the ALL INDIA RADIO MUSIC COMPITION in 2004.
- • He received "PANDIT NIKHIL GHOSH MEMORIAL PROMISING ARTISTE AWARD", Mumbai, 2005.
- • He earned the NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP from the Govt. of India.

Rupak’s crisp tonal quality, modulation, presentation of difficult and rare compositions with extreme speed, clarity & sweetness, overall, profound approach towards the art of playing tabla has earned praises of great masters of our music and placed him as an iconic tabla maestro to the younger generation.
